Overview: 

The Event Lead/Designer will manage every aspect of their assigned events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event including: supervision of all event staff, communication between event client/vendors/production team, installation of equipment and event technician. They are responsible for and ensuring overall customer satisfaction and creating an exceptional experience. This position will focus on wedding lighting design and implementation, with potential for alternate A/V disciplines and event types.

Responsibilities

  • Advance, plan, service, and supervise all assigned events

  • Provide leadership and guidance for event personnel

  • Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, clients, and co-workers

  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights, early mornings, weekends & holidays as needed

  • Assist with pre-show event financial estimates

  • Assist with the completion of post-show event settlements

  • Function as a liaison between vendors/clients and production team

  • Coordinate communication between venue and production team during load in

  • Attend networking events

  • Ability to read, as well as create and/or annotate existing floor plans

  • Attend meetings and trainings at our Arlington Heights office, on-site walkthroughs, and event planning meetings.


Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in weddings and/or corporate events

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and Adobe

  • Skilled in Vectorworks and/or Trimble Sketchup

  • Competency in lighting programming/playback and basic a/v rigging

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle

  • High energy, detail-oriented, positive attitude, and comfort working both autonomously and within groups

  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot emerging problems on the event day while remaining calm and even-tempered

  • Excel in time management and project management skills

  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of live events, customer service practices and principles of supervision

  • Knowledge of industry standard A/V equipment

  • Experience with budget preparation and management
